Source Quality Policy

This project distinguishes GitHub-authored primary evidence, independently reproduced behaviour, and community-reported thresholds.

Evidence levels

1. Official — documented by GitHub in maintained product documentation, GitHub-owned product publications or changelogs, or preserved first-party documentation for a completed historical programme.
2. Confirmed — independently reproduced under recorded conditions with dates, attribution controls, and adequate counterexample handling.
3. Observed — supported by credible public observations but not yet independently reproduced across the required conditions.
4. Community-reported — consistently or widely reported without sufficient primary or independent evidence.
5. Unknown — unsupported, materially contradictory, or too incomplete for a reliable claim.

Historical sources

A preserved GitHub documentation page can establish what GitHub officially stated about a completed historical programme. It must be labelled as archived, cited with its capture date, and must not be used to infer current mutable platform behaviour.

Citation requirements

Every numerical threshold or behavioural claim must include a primary source, reproduction note, or explicit uncertainty label. Screenshots must include a date and redact private information.

Maintenance

Achievement behaviour may change without notice. Contributors must re-check time-sensitive claims before updating a guide and record the verification date.
